Bartercard gets bigger
Businesses in St George and Sutherland Shire can benefit from the recent merging of Bartercard Sutherland with Bartercard Sydney South.

It is now the largest Bartercard brokerage in NSW with more than 150 members in St George and the Shire, and 900 businesses in the merged organisation.

Businesses trade goods and services through a directory of everything from eateries to electronics.

The owners of Rice Republic at Sans Souci could not be happier with Bartercard.

Piers Chandler said he had used Bartercard to pay for a coffee machine, fridge, paint and electrics for the renovations to The Buddha Bar by Rice Republic.

Mr Chandler said Bartercard works best when businesses build relationships and network with one another.

He said it was especially good for businesses in the service industry.
"There's no reason why they can't do it." Mr Chandler said Bartercard could open businesses up to new markets and provide extra customers.

The restaurant has welcomed Bartercard members from all over Sydney.
"You need to treat Bartercard customers as you would a cash customer," Mr Chandler said.

About Bartercard
Bartercard was founded in 1991 on the Gold Coast, Queensland, and has grown to become the world’s largest barter exchange, with 48 offices around Australia.

Bartercard assists more than 20,000 businesses in Australia and 55,000 globally to barter their goods and services – without the challenge of a direct swap. Although the concept of barter is thousands of years old, bartering through Bartercard is an innovative way of combining modern technology, a network of businesses and direct and indirect marketing channels to increase a business’ customer base, sales and profit, and improve cashflow.

Bartercard Australia was bought from Bartercard International in a management buy out in August 2007. It is now 99.5 per cent Australian-owned with the majority of its share base in the hands of Managing Director Brian Hall, Chairman Murray d’Almeida, and Non-Executive Director  Trevor Dietz. The remainder is held by an Australian private equity consortium. Website: www.bartercard.com.au
